Stunning Victorian Style Pendant Chandelier for Home Décor

A six-light chandelier built from tall curved wooden staves that rise from a turned finial, flare outward at the waist and gather again at the crown. At 37.5 inches tall and 29.5 inches wide it is a vertical piece, and the open basket shape is what gives it presence without weight.

The shape is the whole design

There is no carving on this chandelier and almost no metal. What carries it is the line of the staves: each one curves out, back in, and out again in a long S, and all six have to match exactly or the basket looks lopsided from every angle. Getting six pieces of solid wood to agree on the same curve is the entire skill here. Turned wooden drops hang from the arms and from the base to finish the silhouette.

Why an open basket works in a tall room

A solid-bodied chandelier of this height would block the view through a double-height space. Because this one is open, you see the wall and the window behind it, so it fills the volume without closing it off. That is why the basket form keeps coming back in stairwells, entrance halls and rooms with tall windows.

Ceiling height

At 37.5 inches the body alone takes just over 3 ft before any chain is added. This piece belongs in a room of 11 ft or more, or a double-height space. On a standard 9 ft ceiling it will hang too low over a walkway. Send us your ceiling height and we will confirm before making it.
