A reflective finish changes the room

Dark iron absorbs light. A silver finish throws it back, so the same bulbs in this chandelier will make a room read noticeably brighter than they would in an antique bronze or matte black fixture. That matters most in north-facing rooms, in apartments with small windows, and in bedrooms where you want light without adding more lamps. The crystal detail adds a second bounce, picking up the light from the bulbs and scattering it further.

Keeping a polished finish looking right

A reflective finish shows fingerprints and dust more readily than a patina does. Dust it weekly with a dry microfibre cloth. If marks appear, use a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not use metal polish or abrasive cleaner, as either will cut through the finish.
