Carved Leaf Wall Decor

A wall-mounted candle sconce carved from solid wood as a single upright leaf, with a curved arm and a platform at its base to hold a pillar candle. This is a candle holder, not an electric fitting: there is no bulb, no socket and no wiring, and it hangs on a keyhole fixing rather than being hardwired.

One leaf, carved from one piece

The whole leaf is cut from a single board: the central rib, the veining on both sides, and the serrated edge that turns and lifts away from the wall at the tip. Each vein is cut individually, following the taper of the leaf so they narrow as they reach the edge. The arm and the candle platform are carved as part of the same piece rather than fixed on, which is why the curve flows out of the leaf instead of interrupting it.

Using it safely

This is a wooden sconce holding an open flame, so a few things matter. Keep at least 60 cm of clear space above the candle and never mount it below a shelf, a curtain or anything overhanging. Use a candle that fits the 8 cm platform without overhanging its edge, and never leave a lit candle unattended. An LED pillar candle removes the risk entirely and looks the same when lit.

Care

Dust with a soft dry brush, working along the veining. If wax drips onto the platform, let it harden completely and lift it off rather than scraping it warm, which can pull at the wood fibres.
