The rustic royale chandelier

Six wooden arms curving out from a squared central column, each ending in a faceted block and a dark metal candle cup. The whole frame is wood, including the arms, and the only metal is at the bobeches and the chain. That gives it a warmth that wood-and-iron pieces do not have.

Wooden arms are the difficult choice

Almost every chandelier of this shape uses metal arms, because metal is easy to curve and strong in thin sections. Making the arms from wood means each one has to be shaped from a solid section with the grain running along the curve, thick enough to carry the weight without looking clumsy. The reward is that the piece reads as one material from top to bottom: column, arms, blocks and finial all in the same timber, with the same grain and the same finish.

The joinery is visible on purpose

The faceted blocks where each arm meets the candle cup, and the squared collar at the top of the column, are structural joints left exposed rather than hidden under moulding. That is a furniture-maker decision. It tells you the piece is joined rather than glued and skinned, and it is why the silhouette stays angular instead of going soft.

Living with solid wood

Solid wood moves with humidity, and fine hairline movement at the joints over the first season is normal as the piece settles into your climate. Keep it out of direct air-conditioning flow and away from direct sunlight. Dust dry only.
