Rustic Darbar Grand Chandelier

A two-tier wood and iron chandelier a full metre across, carrying sixteen lights and weighing around 16.5 kg. The curved wooden staves rise from a studded iron band in the manner of a barrel, and the whole piece is scaled to light a room of 20 to 30 square metres.

Built like a barrel, on purpose

The curved staves and the riveted iron bands are not a decorative reference. They are how a cooper builds a barrel, and the same logic works here: shaped wooden sections held in compression by iron hoops, so the structure carries its own load without heavy joinery at the centre. That is why a metre-wide fixture can be built from relatively slim timber and still hold its geometry with sixteen light points hanging off it.

Room size, honestly

The coverage figure matters more than the diameter. This chandelier is designed to light 20 to 30 square metres, which is a large living room or a double-height hall. In a smaller room it will not just look oversized, it will be too bright for the space. If your room is under 20 square metres, ask us about the smaller version instead.

Weight and fixing, read before ordering

At around 16.5 kg this fixture must be fixed to a structural ceiling point, never to a false ceiling, plasterboard or a plain junction box. Have an electrician confirm the fixing and the circuit before the chandelier is delivered, as sixteen light points draw more than many rooms are wired for. The overall drop is 205 cm with the full chain, so the ceiling needs the height to take it.
