Rose Spiral Wall Sconce handcrafted light

A tall, narrow wall sconce built around a forged spiral and a single red rose. At 26 inches high but only 5 inches wide, it is designed for a narrow wall: a pier between windows, the space beside a door, or a corridor where a wide sconce would not fit.

Hammered texture, then patina

The backplate on this piece is hammered rather than left smooth. That texture is put in by hand before any finish goes on, and it is what makes the antique bronze catch light unevenly across the surface instead of sitting flat. Golden highlights are rubbed onto the raised points of the spiral and the rose afterwards, and a clear protective coat goes over the whole sconce so the finish holds up on a wall that gets touched.

Where this sconce works best

• Narrow walls. Only 5 inches wide, so it fits between windows or beside a door.
• Corridors and staircases. The 3.5 inch projection keeps it clear of passing shoulders.
• Hotel rooms. We manufacture this design in matched sets for hospitality projects.
• Either side of a bed or mirror, as a vertical pair.

Choosing a bulb

A filament bulb suits this sconce better than a frosted one. The candle holder sits exposed at the front, so a visible filament becomes part of the design, and the warm light picks up the golden highlights on the spiral above it. Frosted bulbs work too but flatten that effect.
