forest Tropical Palm Leaf Wall Sconce

Deep green palm leaves layered up a central stem, with two candle arms curving out from behind the foliage. At 24 inches tall and 12 inches wide it is a tall, narrow sconce, and the green finish makes it the only piece in this collection that reads as a plant rather than as metalwork.

Green over metal, not paint over metal

The colour here is a patina finish rather than a flat green paint. It is built up so the tone shifts across each leaf, darker in the veining and lighter at the edges where the metal shows through, which is what stops twelve identical leaves from looking like twelve identical stampings. Each leaf is cut, veined and curled by hand before it goes onto the stem, and the leaves are set at different angles so the sconce has depth from the side as well as the front.

Where this sconce works best

• Narrow wall panels. At 12 inches wide it fits between windows or on a pier.
• Hallways and entryways. The 5 inch projection stays clear of passing traffic.
• Bedrooms and dressing rooms in botanical, tropical or British colonial interiors.
• Hotel corridors and suites. Matched sets are manufactured to order.

A note on the colour

Green is a strong choice on a wall, and it works best against a neutral background: white, cream, pale grey or natural wood. On a coloured or heavily patterned wall the leaves lose their outline and the piece stops reading as foliage. If your wall is dark, we can supply this design in antique bronze or gold instead.
