Forest Flame Rustic Chandelier

Six wooden arms curving up and outward from a turned central column like flames, or antlers, depending on how you read it. Built from seasoned solid wood with black powder-coated steel fittings, at 68 cm across it is a mid-size chandelier that suits a normal room rather than a hall.

Seasoned wood is the whole point

The arms on this chandelier are long, slender and curved, which is the hardest thing to ask of wood. Green or poorly dried timber in that shape will twist and check within a year. Seasoned wood, dried slowly before it is ever worked, holds the curve. That is why the specification says seasoned solid wood rather than just solid wood, and it is the difference between a piece that keeps its shape and one that does not. The steel collars at the base are powder coated black so they disappear against the wood and simply do their job.

Where this chandelier works best

• Dining rooms. At 68 cm it suits a table for six to eight.
• Living rooms and foyers with standard ceiling height.
• Cabins, farmhouses and lodges. The form was drawn for this setting.
• Resorts and restaurants. Matched sets are manufactured to order.

A note on the chain

The chain adjusts up to 50 cm, which is shorter than on the larger pieces in this collection. That suits a standard ceiling of 9 to 10 ft. If your ceiling is higher, tell us when you order and we will supply a longer chain with the fixture rather than leaving you to source one.

Living with solid wood

Seasoned wood still responds to humidity, just far less than unseasoned timber. Keep the chandelier out of direct air-conditioning flow and away from direct sunlight, both of which dry wood faster than it should dry.
