Floral Rose Chandelier

A six-light chandelier hung with hand-formed red roses and crystal flowers on a gilded iron frame. At 26 inches tall and 24 inches wide it is a compact piece, proportioned for a normal dining room rather than a grand hall, and the colour is what sets it apart from everything else in this collection.

Roses in metal, flowers in crystal

Two different materials do two different jobs here. The roses are formed from metal, petal by petal, and painted a deep red so they hold their colour against the gold frame. The smaller flowers are faceted crystal, set among the leaves, and they pick up the bulb light and scatter it through the foliage. Put one material without the other and the piece loses half its effect: the roses alone would read flat, and the crystal alone would look cold.

Where this chandelier works best

• Dining rooms. At 24 inches wide it suits a table for four to six.
• Bedrooms. The red and gold read warm rather than formal.
• Entryways and living rooms in classic or French-style interiors.
• Boutique hotels and guest suites. Matched sets are manufactured to order.

Hanging it

Comes with a standard chain and ceiling canopy, so the drop can be set on site. Over a dining table, hang it so the lowest point sits 75 to 85 cm above the table top. At around 12 kg it needs a fixing into structure rather than plasterboard alone.

Cleaning roses and crystal

Dust the painted roses dry, with a soft brush between the petals. The crystal flowers can be wiped with a barely damp cloth and dried at once. Do not spray any cleaner over the fixture, as it will run onto the painted roses and the gilding.
